Notes
Acai is by considered by some to be the ultimate antioxidant, and for good reason. Its properties play an important role in heart healthy, aids in weight loss, improves immune functions, and even helps fight leukemia cells. Acai is known for its anti-aging qualities as well and has been used in studies to help prevent Alzheimer's. It is also one of the only antioxidants that is known to enhance sexual performance (considered to be the Viagra of the Amazon). Plus it taste great making it the perfect base for this smoothie.

Blueberries are definitely my favorite fruit, I don't go a day without them. They are packed with Antioxidants and Phytonutrients. Blueberries help to reduce inflammation, combat Oxidative stress, protect the Nervous System, and reduce Cholesterol. New studies have also shown that Blueberries help improve memory and cognitive function. It is especially helpful in aging adults, to protect their brain against Neurodegneration. In other words blueberries make you smarter.

Pomegranate Arils have become much more popular and you can find them packaged in your local grocery story. Or you can always go ahead and buy a pomegranate and pick out the seeds (I prefer the package myself, much faster). These little guys happen to not only be packed with vitamins, but are also high in fiber as well. Studies show that Pomegranates strongly promote heart health, lower cholesterol, and minimize other cardiac risks. They have anti-cancer and immune boosting properties, and may even have an impact on treating and preventing depression.

Goji Berries are another one of my daily staples. They are actually considered to be an herb in Chinese Medicine called Gou Qi Zi. Medicinally they are consumed to nourish blood, enhance eye site, and increase longevity. In Western Medicine Goji Berries are known for their high Antioxidant content. This is attributed to its known benefit for enhancing heart health and preventing cancer. Antioxidants also help to fight off free radicals in the body which is why Goji Berries are considered to have Anti-aging properties. They also enhance brain health and are used to help treat Alzheimer’s as well.

Raw Cacao (raw chocolate) is a Superfood. Also high in Antioxidants and Vitamins, Raw Cacao promotes heart health, contains anti-aging properties, and detoxifies. Its major claim to fame is that Raw Cacao helps to regulate neurotransmitters and alter brain chemistry. It releases feel good hormones and helps you to feel more alert and awake. This makes it wonderful for treating depression and fatigue.

Chia Seeds were a staple food for the Aztecs and Mayans. They consumed these seeds for increased energy and stamina. In fact Chia means “strength.” One thing that makes Chia Seeds such a super star is its high fiber content. One serving of Chia Seeds supplies 42% of your daily fiber requirement. And in addition to being packed full of antioxidants they are an excellent source of your Omega 3 Fatty Acids. If you have heart issues, digestive issues, low energy and fatigue, or are looking to lose weight, you’ll want to include Chia Seeds in your diet.

The Protein powder is a great add in if you are looking to use this as a meal replacement or a post work out shake.
