Coconut Lime Juice

Coconut Lime Juice
This juice was so simple and refreshing. Another recipe from my juice cleanse, this was my night time juice. I wanted something smooth and light to drink before I want to bed, and not to mention quick and easy to make. This drink definitely hit the spot. With its tropical flavor it tasted like I drinking a cocktail, sans the alcohol. Make this whenever you want a refreshing and easy juice recipe.
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 bunch of Cilantro
  • 1 Lime
  • Coconut Water
  1. Add Cucumber, Cilantro, and Lime to Juicer.
  2. Mix in one serving of Coconut water to the prepared juice.
Cilantro: This herb blends well with the tropical flavors and is always a good ingredient to add into juices, especially if you want to detox. This herb helps chelate (remove) heavy metals like mercury, aluminum, and lead from the body. It is also anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Cilantro has a high antioxidant content including the flavonoid Quercetin, which is a powerful antihistamine and anti-inflamatory.

Lime: These guys are not only super refreshing, but super alkalizing as well. When your body is alkalized you have more energy and feel more awake. Limes are also very high in vitamin C which will support the immune system. And another reason to use limes is that they contain a compound called limonnoid which is actually shown to kill cancer cells!

Cucumber: They are one of the most alkalizing foods out there, and the most hydrating. They have a high silica content making it great for the skin, which is why they are often used in facials and lotions. Because of its cooling nature it acts as an anti-inflammatory both externally and internally. In fact Cucumbers can treat everything from a bad sunburn to a stomach ulcer. In Chinese medicine it is used to treat excess heat in the body and is especially useful in cooling you off during the summer months.

Coconut Water: If you are doing a juice cleanse make sure to include some coconut water every day because it is an awesome source of electrolytes such as Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, and Phosphorous. Your body needs electrolytes to maintain a healthy muscular, cardiovascular, nervous and immune system, as well as to help with the absorption and balance of the body's internal fluids. This would also be a great drink to consume after a workout to replenish your electrolytes in a healthy (non sugary sports drink) kinda way.
