Latham's recipes are designed to help prepare the body for pregnancy and to nourish a woman throughout her pregnancy. So this smoothie is perfect for Mommy's to be, but this is great for anyone craving a sweet nutritional treat.

There are a lot of Superfoods packed into this smoothie. Starting with my favorite, Goji Berries! These little guys are full of Antioxidants, Vitamins, and Minerals. In Chinese medicine there are actually considered to be an herb called Gou Qi Zi and are used to nourish blood, improve eye sight, and increase longevity. From a Western medical perspective they improve heart health and help to prevent cancer. With 21 trace minerals Goji berries are a completely protein source that you want to make a regular part of your diet.

Raw Cacao Powder is another amazing Superfood. Also high in Antioxidants and Vitamins, Raw Cacao promotes heart health, contains anti-aging properties, and detoxifies. However, it’s major claim to fame is that Raw Cacao helps to regulate neurotransmitters and alter brain chemistry. It releases feel good hormones and helps you to feel more alert and awake. This makes it wonderful for treating depression and fatigue. Maybe that's why I felt so good after this smoothie!

Hempseeds are a great ingredient to include in this smoothie. They are a high protein seed that contains 9 essential amino acids. They are a great source of fatty acids and have a balanced ratio of Omega 3 and 6. Hempseeds are also an herb in Chinese medicine called Huo Ma Ren which helps to nourish fluids in the body and promote healthy digestion. This tiny little seed packs quite nutritional punch!

With these 3 big hitters and the added benefits of almond butter, shredded coconut, and banana your body is in for a nutritional boost! Plus this smoothie taste like a decadent dessert, you would never know that it is so good for you.
