This is not your traditional fruit salad, hence the title. Why, because I've added in cucumber and avocado to the mix. Technically they are fruit. They also happen to be really good for you and give this dish a nice alkaline balance that most fruit salads are missing. The fresh basil also gives it a more earthy warm flavor and helps to balance out the sweetness. And lime just tastes good on everything. You can make this dish as big or as small as you want. It's perfect to bring on a picnic or a summer cook out. Or make a small portion for a nutritious afternoon snack.
  • Strawberries sliced
  • Blueberries
  • Cucumber sliced
  • Avocado sliced
  • Lime Juice
  • Fresh Basil Chopped
  1. Combine desired amounts of all ingredients and serve chilled.
Believe it or not Strawberries contain more Vitamin C then any other fruit including oranges! Cucumbers are one of the most alkalizing foods out there, and the most hydrating. They have a high silica content making it great for the skin, which is why they are often used in facials and lotions. Because of its cooling nature it acts as an anti-inflammatory both externally and internally. In fact Cucumbers can treat everything from a bad sunburn to a stomach ulcer. In Chinese medicine it is used to treat excess heat in the body and is especially useful in cooling you off during the summer months.

Avocado's are known for containing all of your good healthy fats that help lower cholesterol. They also contain high levels of Folate and Lutein, which helps to support eye health. Avocados lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of stroke. They also bring more oxygen and blood flow to the brain, improving cognitive function. And in addition to all their healthy fats they contain a high amount of fiber and promote healthy digestion. They are known for a wide variety and anti-inflammatory benefits due to its high nutrient content. This also makes it a great cancer fighter, and overall one of the best foods you can eat!

Not only do limes taste good on everything but they are super alkalizing as well. When your body is alkalized you have more energy and feel more awake. Limes are also very high in vitamin C which will support the immune system. And another reason to use limes is that they contain a compound called limonnoid which is actually shown to kill cancer cells!

Basil is considered to be the king of herbs for it's anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It also contains essential nutrients to help improve cardiovascular health.
